Placement and proposal of a new bathhouse in Ängelholm
Area: 5220 m2
Open Competition, Spring 2009

This new bathhouse creates with its characteristic silhouette a new landmark in Ängelholm. Arrayed in colors that draw from the surrounding beach landscape - the sea, the sand, the dunes and forest - the bathhouse becomes a special meeting place for residents and visitors. To define the street space around Nybrovägen the house is set in the corner between Industrivägen and Nybrovägen with a future hotel to the east. The main entrance faces Nybrovägen so that the activity of the bathhouse together with the future hotel creates an active space and street life along Nybrovägen. A volume with a pleated metal roof hailing to the industrial history of the area gives the buiding a clear sihlouette. On the interior the roof breaks down the scale and forms various spatialities adapted in height after their respective function. Glassed-in and carved out gardens create contact between the interior functions and to the sky, street and park. The different program and character of the gardens acts to orient the visitor.
