Klippan Preschool

Klippan Preschool is a two-level crescent-shaped building. The building is located in the Sundbyberg municipality at the edge of an exposed rock face and was designed in 1966 by Axel Grönwall and Ernst Hirsch.

Over the years, the building has been redeveloped several times. When Marge was commissioned to undertake the building, it was so neglected that the entire façade needed to be replaced and the most recent extensions demolished.

The preschool has been adapted for 6 classes that will accommodate 120 children in total, supported by 24 teaching staff and kitchen staff. The redevelopment includes an extension with a new entrance hall, lift, goods reception, kitchen and refuse room as well as revised interior floor plans.

The wooden façade has been replaced with new heat-treated pinewood panels. Windows have been enlarged and fitted with new shading devices. The resulting façade has the aspect of a restrained construction in natural materials in a coherent colour scheme. A contemporary interpretation of the original intention.
