Interior design of NY reklambyrå, Jönköping
Client: NY Reklambyrå
Location: Jönköping, Sweden
Area: 670 m2
This project is a redevelopment of a Salvation Army Church from the 1960s to an office for an innovative advertising agency. The church is situated in a large quarter of central Jönköping and has never changed its use or owner. The aim was to create a modern functional workplace without compromising the church’s spatial qualities or character. A primary part of the interior concept is material detail and color. Each conference room has its own color inspired by the 1960s. The work space is more neutral and gets its character from choice of material.
The building is divided in three levels where one level sits underground. The church hall which is two stories and meets the ground level has been converted into an open work environment and the central room of the office, the agency’s atelier. The old baptismal font and the gallery is used as a meeting place and a place for lectures. A stair leads from here to the next level which contains administrative offices and conference rooms. The basement contains a photography studio, the archives, and staff areas. The kitchen is placed in the old scout room and the vertical wood paneling is preserved and painted many colors.
