Parallell assignment for a Low-Line in "Stora Hamnkanalen", Gothenburg
Client: Göteborg Stad
Collaboration: Land arkitekter and Tyréns
A new outside room is taking form in Stora Hamnkanalen as a new historic urban layer with a unique expression. Since the space around the canal has persisted as a historical link, we wanted to complement it with a form from our own time. It could be considered a sculpture that stands out as a new addition and respectfully articulates the meeting between old and new. This form marks the year 2021 and Gothenburg’s 400-year anniversary.
The scheme is meant to tell the history of the porcelain-bearing ships of the East India Company but at the same time give Gothenburg a new waterside landmark that leaves a mark in your memory and bids your return, coming back to appreciate the uniqueness of each passing day by the ever-changing waterfront.
