Analysis and urban plan for the former development plan of the City of Malmö .
Varvsstaden is a strategically important city development project where Kockums, a former industrial area, is converted into an attractive sustainable neighborhood. The design proposal aims to activate and develop Varvsstaden’s cultural history and local significance in a new urban context.
The design approach seeks to find solutions that are highly tactile and attentive to the human scale. It aims to create multiple distinctive places, building typologies, parks and streets for a variety of residents, activities, and urban lifestyles. Paths and scale shifts create transitions between unique spaces where views over the water and the buildings play a central role in the experience of the neighborhood.
